Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez has said that he will have to undergo another operation
after doctors found a lesion during medical tests in Cuba.
The
57-year-old underwent two operations in Havana last year to remove a cancerous
tumour from his pelvis.
The latest
lesion is in the same area as the tumour but described as small.
Mr Chavez
revealed the news during a televised tour of a factory in his home state of
Barinas.
"There
is no metastasis. Just this small lesion in the same place where they removed
the tumour," he said.
Mr Chavez
had surgery to remove the tumour - which has been reported to have been the
size of a baseball - last year.
Speaking
after the operation he said he had made the "fundamental error" of
failing to look after himself.
His exact
condition remains a closely guarded secret.
